Ridgefield, NJ – March 11, 2024 – Culimer USA is proud to announce that Renee Perry, our esteemed Vice President of CSR & ESG, will be taking part in a panel talk on achieving full chain traceability at the Boston Seafood Show on March 11th, 2024.
The panel discussion, which is set to provide valuable insights from the Supply Chain Risk Project, will focus on a collaborative effort between the World Economic Forum’s Friends of Ocean Action, FishWise, Global Fishing Watch, and Stanford’s Center for Ocean Solutions. The project’s aim was to equip companies with actionable data on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing risks down to the vessel level.
“At Culimer USA, we are committed to promoting sustainability and transparency throughout the seafood supply chain,” said Renee Perry. “Our participation in the pilot project and thes panel underscores our dedication to strengthening risk assessments and due diligence processes within the Seafood industry.”
Joining representatives from various sectors of the seafood industry, Renee Perry will share insights from Culimer USA’s experience implementing full traceability systems and engaging with governments to improve data access. The discussion aims to highlight the importance of collecting vessel-level data in IUU fishing risk assessments and address challenges related to data gaps and limitations in government-supplied data.
“The Supply Chain Risk Project is a crucial initiative in addressing IUU fishing risks,” added Perry. “By integrating and standardizing disparate data sources into a single platform and automating analyses, companies can better identify and mitigate these risks, ultimately contributing to the sustainability of our oceans.”
The roundtable discussion will feature representatives from seafood companies and coalitions sharing their journeys towards implementing full traceability systems, with a specific focus on collecting vessel-level data. Civil society representatives will also discuss how industry vessel data can support fisheries management and contribute to understanding vessel operations from a labor perspective.
Culimer USA encourages industry stakeholders to participate in this important discussion to collectively strengthen efforts towards sustainable seafood practices and supply chain transparency.
